Caribbean Flow

Hi loves,

When I lived in NYC I treasured every ounce of the summer time because the season was short-lived!    And then the fall and winter blues quickly settled in.  Now that I am back home in Puerto Rico, I am grateful to have an eternal summer season.  Fashion wise, that means that I can wear flowy, breezy, light, colorful, and rich textiles all year long.  Lately, I am into off-shoulder bohemian tops and dresses.  I find the off-shoulder trend subtly sexy, and it complements nicely one of my favorite body parts, my collarbone and shoulders.  What I also love about these relaxed and flowing pieces is that  they are absolutely comfortable and perfect for very warm weather.  If you are the one that loves showing off your shoulders, then this trend is for you.  If you are not sure, try it!

Here I lea you with some tasseled, bright, and Talavera tiles-inspired pieces that I am sure will inspire you to update your summer wardrobe!  Enjoy!

-Diana

P.S. Information on where to get these pieces is below the first or second picture of each new look.

Fruit Punch!

Hi loves,

Warning!  You will get hungry after seeing the pictures in this post.  I have been living in Puerto Rico a little bit over a month now, and I have tasted an assortment of delicious tropical fruits.  I grew up eating most of the fruits I will be sharing with you, and I recently added Ketambillas, a very sour fruit similar in appearance to a grape, and similar in taste to gooseberry.  Actually, ketambillas are from the gooseberry family.  I am not sure if they are a super fruit, but certainly it should be added as one.  I blended and strained mine into a delicious juice recently!  In another post I will share the recipe.

These tasteful tropical gems have also inspired some of my recent summer outfits.  I am so happy that fruit prints are still a trend.  I probably would still wear it even if they weren't trendy  Fruit prints make me really really happy, and they are always a sweet conversation piece!

I hope you enjoy!

Bedroom Remake: Hydrangeas, Gold, and Cream

Hi loves,

Sorry for not having blogged much in the past two weeks.  I have been busy meeting a few work deadlines, and preparing myself to do conduct my doctoral dissertation study in Puerto Rico this summer.  This will be a packed summer literally, since I have to start cleaning, organizing, and packing my things to move to Puerto Rico in May.  I am hoping this will be a permanent move (but God and time will tell!).  I embrace and appreciate change, and in preparation for my move, I am planning on redecorating my old bedroom at my parent's home (I will be living with my parents for a bit, until I settle in and collect the data for my study).  I moved out of Puerto Rico when I was 21, and the last time that room was touched by my mother's decorating wand was at age 15!  So yep, its about time for change!

I have to head home in April to conduct a pilot test of the instrument I will be using to collect data in my dissertation study, so I am also using this trip to put my interior designer hat to begin the decorating process.  My awesome dad (Hi dad!) agreed to have our handyman paint the room for me before I get there, to avoid any smells (Sorry, I suffer from serious allergies).

This blog post is more of a pin board than anything.... I have already chosen the color scheme and theme, and have slowly started to buy accessories, and do some fun DYI projects in my NYC home for old decor accessories that will go great in my bedroom).  The best thing is that I am doing it on a tight budget, so that forces me to be creative!  As I enter this fun journey, I want to share my ideas with you, of some beautiful decor items I have found in the internet, including accessories, bedding, side tables, etc.  These are all budget friendly items, yay (well, that is subjective, but I tried to put items that were accesible to the pockets)!  The information on where to get these items is the caption below each picture.

I hope you enjoy it!
